How to use the CGPA converter

  1. Choose CGPA to %, % to CGPA or SGPA to CGPA.
  2. Pick the formula on your grade card or university circular, or enter a custom one.
  3. Enter your CGPA, percentage or semester SGPAs.
  4. Optionally enter a percentage you need, such as a placement cut-off, to see the gap.

How CGPA converts to percentage

There's no single national formula. CBSE publishes CGPA × 9.5 for its 10-point grades, which is why 9.5 is the multiplier people use most. Many universities publish their own conversion, often in the form (CGPA − a deduction) × 10, and print it on the grade card.

Always use the formula your university states. Employers and admissions offices usually accept the conversion printed on your marks card or a certificate from your university, so the calculator shows exactly which formula it used.

SGPA and CGPA

SGPA is your grade point average for one semester. CGPA combines all your semesters. Under the credit-based system most universities follow, CGPA weights each semester's SGPA by that semester's credits.

Add each semester's credits to get a credit-weighted CGPA. Without credits, the calculator gives a simple average, which matches the weighted figure only when every semester has the same credits.

Placement and admission cut-offs

Recruiters and postgraduate programmes often set a minimum percentage, commonly 60%. Enter your cut-off to see how close you are under your university's formula.

If you're just below, your remaining projects and assignments can still move your CGPA. Our Python assignment help and computer science help are built for engineering and IT students.

Use your university's formula. For CBSE grades, multiply the CGPA by 9.5, so 8.4 becomes 79.8%. Many universities print their own formula on the grade card, often (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 or CGPA × 10.
